hmm.....this is a long long journey, the journey of becoming a medical doctor. to save lives.
i still remember the day i applied for a sit in this college, hoping to receive an offer letter. n i was asked to attend an interview. it was just a formality though. after that i did my visas, got ready with my flight ticket, next i was in manipal, india already.
recalling back, as a first year medical student, i was kind of too stressed up cause i was just an average student in secondary school. i passed my first year, with some difficulties especially with the anatomy subject.
when i was in second year, half way through it i went for a tour around india, it was an adventurous trip. yes i pretty much enjoyed my second year, not as stressed up as during my first year. almost everyday i played badminton in the evening. my sleeping hours increased too during my second year. i can't say that second year was easier, just that i've got the pace of it from my first year experience, and i've learnt how to cope with my studies.
ok that was what i thought so. i was wrong. clinical years which are 3rd, 4th, 5th years are totally different from the first two years of medical school. crap.
now there's whole load of things to read, a pile of medical notes and books to read through, that the things that i've read might be forgotten just the next day, well i shall say it's just non-ending reading.
there are alot of hands-on medical skills to be learnt too! one example that i've done by myself was withdrawing patient's blood. hands-on are fun to learn, and once mastered, it's just a routine for a doctor.
i still remember the first time i withdrew a patient's blood, i was quite excited about it. it was in July 2012.
well there are alot more hands-on that i need to learn in the future.
i knew from the very first day entering medical school, until the day i retire as a medical doctor, i've to be continuously reading, a non-stop manner.
but i hope eventually the efforts that i'm putting in now will be paid off, once i graduate from medical school, getting a degree, saving lives, putting a smile on others' faces. =)
